One Soul Saved
... is Worth More Than All the Gold in the World

By David J. Stewart

Luke 15:7, “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in Heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”

One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world. With the U.S. dollar declining ever so rapidly, gold has been increasing in value (now being sold at over $1,200 an ounce). Yet, one soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world?

What is meant by the term “saved”? We read in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.” The term “saved” means to be born-again, i.e., to have He Who is the Beginning, Jesus Christ, born in you. Thus, we are saved from God's vengeful wrath in Hell through the blood of Jesus. Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him [Jesus Christ].”

Matthew 13:23, “But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Jesus spoke in Matthew 13:23 about winning 30, 60 and some 100 souls to Christ. What a privilege to reach thousands of lost souls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through this ministry.

It is tragic that so many professed Christians today have the wrong priorities. The average Christian is more interested in their MP3 player and 56" television than they are in purchasing Gospels of John, King James Bibles, Gospel tracts and tithing to a soul-winning Church.

It's interesting in Matthew 6:21 that Jesus taught, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Most people get this backwards, thinking that a person's treasure is where their heart is; but that's not what the Scriptures teach. The Bible says that a man's heart will be where his treasure is. This is why Jesus told us in Matthew 6:20 to “lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven.” By laying up treasures in Heaven, our heart will also be in Heaven.

So many professed Christians lay up treasures for themselves here on earth, planning for their retirement and thinking primarily about themselves. Jesus condemned this selfish evil way of thinking (Luke 12:21). The heart of such carnally-minded believers is set upon their worldly possessions, although they may deny their love of money. Their heart is not set upon Heaven, because they are not concerned about soul-winning to lay up eternal treasures in Heaven.

If you were given a choice of a pile of gold or the opportunity to preach the Gospel to a million people, which would you choose? Sadly, ninety-nine percent of all believers would choose the gold. Every believer has 86,400 seconds in a day. No believer has any more, nor any less, time than anyone else. What are you doing for God with your 86,400 seconds a day? Do you thank God with even one of those seconds? Do you pray to God for the salvation of lost souls with even one of those seconds? Do you pass out even one Gospel tract with one of those 86,400 seconds? What are you doing for God?

Even one soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world. Do you really believe that? There are thousands of so-called Christian singers, known as CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) singers. You won't find even one mainstream CCM artist who presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ on their website. They are a bunch of phonies who only care about making money. Their heart is where their treasure is... in selling more albums.

1st Timothy 6:10 teaches, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” The tears will flow at the Judgment Seat of Christ, when millions of believers have nothing to show for their time on earth. They wasted their life laying up earthly treasures. They enjoyed their old age luxuries; but they failed to win souls to Christ. They never turned anyone to righteousness. They never gave out any Bibles. They cheered others who were on fire for God; but never lifted a finger themselves for God. 1st Corinthians 3:8 teaches that God will reward every believer individually for his OWN labors.

Oh, that Christians Would Become Aggressive About Winning Souls

Our time on earth is so short. The Lord's return is imminent. The end of this life is so near. Daniel 12:3 teaches, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Proverb 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverb 11:28, “He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.” I wish I could convince every believer of the foolishness of laying up earthly treasures. I've know people who were consumed with earthly possessions, always talking about their upcoming retirement; but now they are dead, having perished before they could enjoy any of it. Many believers say they don't love money; yet they are consumed with money. They will have nothing in Heaven.

One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.

Get that into your heart, mind and soul. This temporary life will be over before we know it. All that will matter then is how many people we led to Jesus Christ through the precious Word of God. 1st Peter 1:23, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”

Salvation happens when a person acknowledges their guilt of sin, coming to God on the basis of being a hell-deserving sinner; believing on Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, for forgiveness of sins. Acts 10:43, “To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.” Amen!

We are the SINNERS and Jesus is the SAVIOR. We are saved solely by Christ's righteousness; and not by any self-righteousness of our own, and a good thing, because we have none to offer God (Isaiah 64:6). All that God the Father requires is for us to come for salvation by way of the Son of God, Jesus, the Christ. John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” Acts 10:43, “To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.”

I challenge you to become a soul-winner if you're not one already. I challenge you to look for opportunities unique to the abilities, talents and resources which God has given you to reach people for Christ. Being a soul-winner is simple. If you know how you got saved, then you can be a soul-winner simply by telling someone else how you were saved. It's that simple. Just give lost sinners the simple Gospel.

Joy in Heaven Over One Sinner that Gets Saved

Phooey on buying silver and gold. Phooey on real estate. Phooey on becoming wealthy here on earth. May we obey the Lord and instead lay up treasures in Heaven (Matthew 6:20). Even one soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world. Think about that. Luke 15:7 and 15:10 teach that there is joy in Heaven over ONE SINNER that repenteth... “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in Heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance ... there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Oh that believers here on earth would be as interested in soulwinning as the saints in Heaven.

It must be extremely frustrating to the saints in Heaven to see so many believers here on earth, inactive, sitting on their blessed assurance, doing nothing to win lost sinners to Jesus Christ. If the saints in Heaven have great joy over one sinner that repenteth, then they must also be greatly sad over all the unrepentant sinners and deadbeat believers who are lukewarm (Revelation 3:15-16).

Most Believers Today are Spiritually Destitute, Having No Zeal for Soul-winning

The average Christian in America is spoiled... “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked” (Revelation 3:17). America's churches are increased with goods, and have need of nothing materialistically; but God says they are spiritually wretched, miserable, poor and naked. They are apostate.

Interestingly, God tells this spiritually miserable, poor and naked church in Revelation 3:14-19 to BUY GOLD and WHITE RAIMENT from Him in Revelation 3:18, “I counsel thee to BUY OF ME GOLD tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” That is very interesting. Jesus explains what He means in Revelation 3:19, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: BE ZEALOUS therefore, and REPENT.”

God wants us to be ZEALOUS concerning the King James Bible, the doctrine of Christ, soulwinning, humility, supporting the work of God, contending for the Christian faith, helping the poor, taking a stand against evil, living righteously and seeking the things of God. America's wayward Christians need to repent and stop straddling-the-fence. We need revival in America. One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.

It's time for Christians to act like Christians and stop living for money. It's very difficult to find popular online ministries that don't beg for donations. If anyone shouldn't beg for money, it's Christians. It's a shame that the Devil's crowd freely publishes their heresy and lies online; but God's children require people to buy the truth. That's so horrible. I think it's sad for any church to have a donation button on their website. One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world. The average Christian website advertises all sorts of books, music and items for sale; but the plan of salvation is buried in some sub-link that you have to go searching for. One soul saved is worth more than all the gold in the world.
